Christian College Graduate Average Salary

When you talk about a Christian college graduate you are talking about a person who could have walked away from the Christian college with any number of degrees. A person who graduates with one of any number of degrees could then pursue any number of positions as a member of the clergy, a church director, or as a director of religious education and activities. Your post and more will help to decide your salary.

How Much Will You Make?

Many people seem to have this idea that anyone who works in a religious profession will not make any money. They have antiquated notions about vows of poverty and while these vows may be a reality for some, the majority of people who work in religious professions are well compensated for their calling.

For example, if you become a director of religious education and activities then your average salary is about $55,000 a year. If you decide to become a member of the clergy then the average salary for that type of position is closer to $61,000 a year. Clearly, you can work in a religious position and still make a lot of money, more than even many of the professions that you traditionally think of as being the most lucrative.

Determining Your Salary

There are many different positions that can be sought out using your degree from a Christian college and each one will have a different average salary. Beyond this fact, the type of degree that you have will have a great impact on your salary. If you have a bachelors degree then you will make considerably less than if you have a masters degree. Some positions in the church will require that you have at least a masters while others may allow you entry with either type of degree.

A Higher Calling

Too much discussion of salary and compensation takes away from the specialness of a position that is truly a higher calling. People do not seek out jobs in the church to make money. They do so to support and lead the church and to provide all people with a place where they can discover their own spirituality.

The average Christian college graduate salary is impressive but not as much as the work they do. Helping others to keep the faith in hard times is a job that is challenging and rewarding all in itself. Not turning anyone away is a job that deserves a comfortable lifestyle.
